St. Patrick’s Day, and the only green in sight was the look on your face after round four. The deal today was heavy barbell work followed by a grinder that just kept asking for more. Clean and jerks building to 155, pause front squats that made you earn every inch out of the hole, good mornings to keep the posterior chain honest. That was the appetizer.

Then seven rounds. Fifteen pull-ups, fifteen power cleans at 95, fifteen box jumps. Do the math and that’s 315 reps of work that doesn’t care about your feelings. The cleans start feeling light and by round five they feel like 185. The pull-ups go from sets of fifteen to sets of whatever you can hold on for. You just keep moving.

Nearly 4,700 pounds moved in the lifting alone, plus all those cleans in the conditioning. That’s the kind of volume that earns the rest of the day. No shamrocks, no green beer, no luck involved. Just the work, done before the sun came up. Coffee hit different after that one.
