August 7, 2025 – Fasting & Recovery Update

This week started a little different. I missed my usual Monday garage workout while visiting my daughter and son-in-law. Monday night was a beautiful ribeye and sweet potato dinner, capping off a few days of eating just about everything in sight.

Tuesday morning, we had an early flight, so I skipped breakfast, didn’t eat in the airport, and missed lunch. By the time we got home, I wasn’t hungry and the fridge was bare, so I skipped dinner too.

Wednesday came with the same pattern—no breakfast, no lunch. That’s when I realized I was pushing close to a 48-hour fast, something I’d never done before. I decided to ride it out, skip dinner, and see how far I wanted to take it.

Here’s what I noticed so far:

  • 12 lbs lost

  • Inflammation gone – My knee had been swollen and stiff, but after 24 hours fasting, it loosened up dramatically. Hippensteel stretches felt easier, and I even got my head to the floor in a cross-leg stretch.

  • Regular digestion – I still… well… went to the bathroom, even without eating.

  • Energy steady – Felt great most of the day, only getting hungry and lightheaded around 8 p.m.

The biggest surprise was the inflammation drop. I might not have even noticed if my knee hadn’t been acting up beforehand.

Tomorrow, I’ll probably hop on the bike with the guys for the morning workout, then break the fast. From there, it’s back to the best eating plan I’ve ever followed:

  • Carbs: 170g

  • Fat: 62g

  • Calories: 1922

  • Goal Weight: 171 lbs

This wasn’t the workout I planned for today, but it was a reset I didn’t know I needed.
