🏋️‍♂️ TRAINING LOG – JULY 10, 2025

Location: The Garage – Group Conditioning

WORKOUT – Ethan Reeve

Ethan developed a love for strength training and a work ethic to match as a boy "chopping cotton" and baling hay for 8-12 hours a day.  He did 500 pushups every day from grades 8-12 which helped him move on to wrestling at the University of Tennessee.  At the University of Tennessee, he won two Southeastern Conference wrestling gold medals at 150 and 158 lb. but still felt as though there was something missing in his strength and conditioning routine. He created a workout called the "Ethan Reeve", which is 10 power cleans at body weight and 10 chin-ups x 10 rounds.  He did this seven days a week for two years and always made sure that he could complete the workout in under 20 minutes.  His discipline was so strong that he even did this workout on competition days and before weigh-in as a wrestler.  The hard work and dedication paid off as he finished his career as a two-time NCAA All-American and four-time SEC champion wrestler at the University of Tennessee.. This workout, called Ethan Reeve, is:

10 rounds

10 power cleans at bodyweight

10 pushups

Do this every 2 minutes. Rest is dictated by how fast you complete the work. For instance, if you complete 10 cleans and 10 pushups in 1 minute, you rest the remaining minute. Complete this 10 times. If you can do this fairly comfortably at bodyweight, you are a BEAST. Ethan did this workout every single day when he was competing in wrestling. He has prescribed this workout to many wrestlers through the years. This one remains a benchmark for us too. However, we have to adjust the weights a little.

This is such a great workout. One day I will finish it at bodyweight, but I’m either gonna have to get a lot stronger or I’m going to have to lose a lot of weight. Today I did it at 1:35 for nine rounds and one round at 1:55. I finished the rounds in 30 to 40 seconds at 1:35 . When I moved to 155 I slowed down significantly and it took me a minute and a half to do the cleans. I have done this workout partially at 175 before moving to 155 but felt like today it was better to start at 1:35 and see how I felt. I was moving the cleans well at 1:35 unbroken. I feel like I could do this workout at 1:55 but my weight is 185 right now. If I was 175 and could do the workout at 155 I would be pretty happy with that result. It was a great day for the garage with Andrew Rusty card Kyle Mathew Allen, Jody, Ethan, Chad, me and Moose. It was also a great day because Matthew showed me a picture and Gus now has all of his tubes out and a beautiful smile. Way to go Gus.
