Nine of us on the floor this morning and the board had Jerry written on it. Run a mile, row two thousand meters, run a mile. Simple deal. Not easy. We started with some heavy barbell work first — front squats building to 185, cleans up to 175, and clean high pulls at 195. Good session to get the engine warm before the main event. Over 7,700 pounds moved before we even laced up the running shoes.

I came in at 27:33 and honestly felt better about it than the number suggests. My running has been nonexistent for a while now, so just getting out there and moving felt right. The legs remembered what to do even if they were a step or two slower than the old days. Back when we were sharper we were running seven-minute miles and pulling eight-minute rows on this one. I need to get a lot faster, but the work is the work and today was about showing up for it.

Jim took the belt today at 25:33 — strong effort. Kyle ran both miles and came in at 26:03, also very good. And let the record show that Steen won the first run. He was very concerned about making sure we all knew that.

It was a great start to the day.
